When I was growing up, one of my aunts consistently bought me clothes that were a size or so too big for me, always citing “you’ll grow into it!” I was very slender until my twenties and “growth spurt” defined my teens, so, no, I never did grow into most of the pieces she gifted. Maybe it’s because of this, but I’ve always been strict about buying clothes in my current size. Not too small, hoping I’ll slim down; not too big, expecting to fill it out eventually. I have, however, made one exception to that rule: this skirt.
I’ve had this skirt for three or four years now, but didn’t start wearing it regularly until last summer. Until last summer, it was at least a size or so too big for me! When I found it on the rack back in 2013 or 2014, though, I knew it needed to come home with me. (And now, years later, I’m so glad that it did!)
It’s actually kind of silly that it’s never been featured on the blog. I wear it at least once a week, usually when I’m running a quick errand or want to be comfy on my weekend coffee date. I think I don’t typically put a lot of thought into how I style it, usually just throwing on a black tank or striped shirt and calling it good enough. I had fun dressing it up a little here with my favorite clogs, backpack, and new-to-me choker.
While I think most women would probably be pretty bummed to go up a couple of skirt sizes, I ended up being able to wear my favorite skirt, so it all worked out! Size is just a number and floral skirts are forever.
