Another day, another skirt and scarf combo. I love that this has become my uniform because it’s a little bit sneaky. Every scarf is such a statement on its own that no one is going to say “heeeey, didn’t you just wear a skirt and scarf together, like, yesterday?” And if they do notice, they’re probably just admiring my grand silk scarf collection, and I can’t say I mind that either. It is pretty dope.

One of my goals for my fall and winter closet is to keep it colorful. I tend to fall into a bit of a neutrals rut when the cold weather hits, but I think that keeping things playful with color blocking and plenty of colorful prints will help my closet feel fresh throughout the season. Plus, it’s hard to feel sad when you’re wearing orange and chartreuse. I’ll be sharing a colorful cold weather wishlist soon, so stay tuned for that.

I just realized that I probably only have another month of wearing this skirt before I put it away until spring. As if the chambray didn’t feel summery enough, I don’t think the light wood buttons would transition especially well into fall and winter — and I certainly don’t see myself wearing it with tights. I wore it at least once a week over the summer, and it got to the point where I actively tried not to put it on the blog because I felt like I’d shared it too many times. Looking back, I guess I actually only shared it a couple of times (here and here), though I think there was another outfit we photographed that I decided I didn’t like (so you never saw it). Anyway, I hope ModCloth restocks this one in the spring because I highly recommend it!

Do you have colors you gravitate towards in the cooler months? Want to join me in a colorful fall and winter?
