In the spirit of sisterhood, this outfit combines two of my favorite women: Ann Taylor and Kate Spade. It’s almost like this Ann Taylor lace midi skirt was meant to be worn with my Kate Spade gold scalloped flats. I love how feminine they look together — great job, ladies!
I actually got the idea for this outfit from one of my favorite college professors, who commented on this post. She suggested that I try a classic blue button down, and I immediately loved the way it looked. I decided to lean into the preppy affect by buttoning up and adding a J.Crew statement necklace. Now I’m ready to go where the preppy people go. Where is that? A horse race? A vineyard? The Cape, perhaps? The only thing this outfit is missing is a mint julep!

I mentioned in a comment on Bri’s blog last week that I’m trying to do a better job of wearing my pretty skirts during the week. Sometimes I go several days in a row wearing jeans without even realizing it. Rather than being in a position of having nothing to wear, I’ve felt overwhelmed with too many things to wear, which I think has made me default to jeans so I don’t have to choose between this pretty outfit or that one. Well no more! I’m being more deliberate about wearing skirts, and sometimes dresses, most days of the week, and leaving shorts and jeans to weekend errands. My growing collection of midi skirts is too precious to keep hanging in the closet. They deserve to get out where people can see them!

Do you tend to gravitate towards jeans or skirts and dresses when you’re getting dressed every day? Do you wish it were the other way around?
