If this outfit looks familiar, it’s because I wore it to day three of ACL Fest. As I walked home that night, Pearl Jam playing in the distance, the wind whipping my dress and hair around, I felt awfully witchy. For a moment, I was imagining myself in a Stevie Nicks music video. It was one of those moments of being alone that felt all romantic, like I was in a movie. I spent so much time searching for those moments in high school and college. Now I spend more of my time based in reality, but this was a nice, fleeting moment.
This abandoned church is actually less than a block away from my new office. I pass it every day going to and from work, and I told Briley we had to shoot there. The light in the marquee that hasn’t been turned off, but has no inspirational psalm to offer; the out-of-place palm trees; the contrasting dark and light elements. With Halloween coming up, I thought it would be fun to photograph my witchy outfit in an ominous setting.
